FREE PICTURE: Glenfiddich Arts Award at New Contemporaries Royal Scottish Academy Exhibition 2022, Edinburgh, Fri 25/02/2022:
Top Scottish art prize doubles in size this year - the Glenfiddich Residency Award is made every year at the RSA New Contemporaries exhibition in Edinburgh, Scotland’s major showcase for recent art graduates. This year, however, Glenfiddich judges found it so difficult to choose a single winner that they decided to make two awards, worth a total of £20,000.
The winners, announced today, are Rachel McClure, 56 (pictured, from Elgin, Moray), who makes sculptures, photographs and recordings inspired by urban walks in Elgin. And Fanny Arnesen, 25, from Glasgow, who wowed the judging panel with her accomplished paintings of trees and forests (not pictured in this picture).
