Prestigious awards placing for Scots restaurant

One of Edinburgh’s best loved restaurants has been placed fifth in the TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards for best fine dining restaurants across the UK.

Aizle currently holds the number one position for best restaurant in Edinburgh on the world’s largest travel platform.

Opened in 2014 by husband-and-wife team Stuart Ralston and Krystal Goff, Aizle was the first restaurant in Edinburgh to offer surprise tasting menu. Guests are privy to only a list of ingredients which are used in a six-course tasting menu, dedicated wholly to what is local and in season.

Stuart, owner and chef patron of Aizle, said: ‘I am absolutely thrilled to have won the TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards again this year. The most rewarding thing about receiving this award is that it reflects the unbiased opinion of people from around the globe who have dined at Aizle.

‘Of course, this would not be possible without my amazing team. They are the reason Aizle ranks as the number one restaurant in Edinburgh. We thank all of our guests for leaving such positive feedback.’

The Travellers’ Choice Awards for Restaurants honour travellers’ favourite dining establishments worldwide. Based on a full year of TripAdvisor reviews, these restaurants were consistently given high ratings and praise by diners across the globe. Award winners were determined by factoring in the quantity and quality of reviews, gathered over a 12-month period.

Opened in 2014, Aizle is one of Edinburgh’s best-loved eateries. It made its mark with no traditional menu on display; instead guests are privy only to a list of ingredients which are used in the six-course tasting menu, dictated wholly by what is local and in season. A dish or garnish may be available for six weeks, others for only a few short days.

The best meals are the ones you don’t have to choose. Everything at Aizle is made in-house, from the nutritious live ferment in the sourdough, and the hand churned butter, to the aquavit and aged kombucha in the cocktails. The restaurant even grows its own selection of herbs and vegetables out the back.
