Dad tackles West Highland Way in just 48 hours to raise money for charity

A dad has raised more than £2,500 for charity after taking on the West Highland Way in just 48 hours.

Dr Nick Hesford completed the arduous 96-mile hike in just two days to raise money for PND Borders, a local charity providing essential support to families affected by postnatal depression.

PND Borders has been a vital source of assistance for Nick and his young family since the birth of his son in 2020.

Starting his journey in Milngavie and concluding at Fort William, Nick, a senior advisor for the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust, traversed some of Scotland’s most breathtaking landscapes, from the bustling city to the towering peak and the vast lochs.

With ongoing contributions pouring in, Nick has successfully raised more than £2,500.

Fellow GWCT advisor Marlies Nicolai offers her support along the walk.

‘PND Borders provide an invaluable service helping families struggling with postnatal depression, and I was keen to do something to give back,’ said Nick, from Peeblesshire.

‘There were times when I felt like I had bitten off more than I could chew, but knowing I was raising money for a good cause kept me going.’

Accompanying him on various segments of the journey were his colleagues from GWCT Scotland, Kathy Fletcher and Marlies Nicolai.
