Women’s charity event raised £17,000 for good cause

A spellbinding afternoon led to a group of ladies from across Glasgow raising an incredible £17,000 for a worthy cause.

The sum was raised at the 12th annual Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland’s (SBH Scotland) Ladies Who Give an F* lunch.

The Ladies Who Given An F* event was created as part of honorary patron Gordon Ramsay’s appeal, where F stands for Fundraising!

Held at the Radisson Blu, Glasgow, on Sunday, the star of the show was Glasgow-based illusionist, Chris De Rosa, who wowed the audience with Vegas-style magic, which involved fire, and saw his assistant disappear.

The afternoon of fun, games and surprises was hosted by TV interior designer John Amabile and included performances from Britain’s Got Talent’s Edward Reid. One lucky guest even walked away with a £500 Therapie Clinic voucher in this year’s grand raffle prize.

Now in its 12th year, more than £17,000 was raised for the specialist charity, which will go towards supporting children, young people and families affected by spina bifida and hydrocephalus across the country.

Deborah Roe, fundraising director at SBH Scotland said: ‘Each year, we are overwhelmed by the support we receive and are very grateful to all the ladies who helped us raise such a fantastic amount of money.

‘For those unable to attend, but still looking to get involved, we have a lot of exciting fundraising opportunities coming up this year, including our first ever sky diving event and the annual zipslide across the River Clyde challenge.’

SBH Scotland offers a range of vital services including financial advice, information on benefits available, weekly support groups and dedicated support workers to more than 3,500 individuals across Scotland.
