Glasgow to mark St Andrew’s Day with torchlight parade

A brand new event is taking place in Glasgow tonight.

The St Andrew’s Day torchlight parade, run by the West End Festival, will celebrate Scotland’s patron saint.

Suitable for all the family, people can join in this community procession through Glasgow’s West End. A donation from every torch sold will be made to Beatson Cancer Charity.

 

A torchlight procession is coming to Glasgow for St Andrew’s Day

The schedule is:

6pm Procession gathers at Queen Margaret Drive football pitches;
6.30pm Set off down Queen Margaret Drive;
6.50pm Cross Great Western Road into Byres Road;
7pm Arrive at University Avenue;
7.15pm Arrive at Kelvin Way.

People can join in or just watch the procession as it moves through the west end, accompanied by pipe bands, musicians and fire dancers.

Advance cost is £8 including booking fee and a donation to charity. Non-torchbearers can join the parade for £3 with a special wrist band.
