SCONE Palace has unveiled plans to open all year round and turn its stables into a visitors’ centre, restaurant, and shop.
Other proposals include an adventure playpark, a multi-purpose pavilion, and new greenhouses and refurbished potting sheds for its walled garden.
The palace also plans to generate power from solar panels and a biomass plant.
The proposals will involve changing the main visitors’ access and parking.
Brian Stevenson, chief executive at Scone Estates & Palace, said: “The proposals are a very significant step forward in the evolution of the visitor attraction here at Scone Palace, which will allow the facilities to be open all year round.
“This in turn will complement the new Perth Museum project and the return of the Stone of Scone in 2024.
“It is essential we build capacity in the region and attract more visitors to Perthshire while investing in the preservation of the historic fabric of Scotland.”
The plans will go on show on 13 December at the Robert Douglas Memorial Institute in Scone.
The estate has submitted a “proposal of application notice” to Perth & Kinross Council ahead of applying for planning permission.
