Brace of honours for Fingal

FINGAL, the floating hotel in Leith docks, has done the double with a brace of honours.

Pride of Britain Hotels named the venue as its “hotel of the year”, while the Automobile Association (AA) crowned Fingal as “one of the top 25 five-star hotels and restaurants in the UK”.

Re-launched as a luxury hotel in 2019, the former Northern Lighthouse Board tender is owned and operated by the team behind The Royal Yacht Britannia.

“Fingal is a very special property,” said Kalindi Juneja, chief executive at Pride of Britain Hotels.

“We had a total of 12 of our members exceed expectations in all categories, so the decision was certainly a difficult one.”

Fingal has sailed into the AA’s list of prestigious hotels and restaurants for the first time after being awarded the top five-star rating for its hotel and two AA rosettes for its Lighthouse Restaurant.

The AA inspectors said: “The condition and quality throughout is excellent.

“Notable features – such as the engine room on display, the bridge, lift, and function space – are all fascinating.

“The design features and detailing also impressed.”

Andrew Thomson, Fingal’s general manager, said: “Prestigious accolades like this are a real testament to our dedicated team of hospitality professionals who are passionate about delivering only the best guest experience.”
