The search is on for Scotland’s young theatre talent

Scottish Youth Theatre are touring Scotland over the next couple of months to recruit talented young artists.

Following a critically acclaimed performance by this year’s company, Scottish Youth Theatre is now recruiting for their 2019 National Ensemble.

To ensure they recruit the most promising young artists Scotland has to offer, they are auditioning across the length and breadth of Scotland.

Scottish Youth Theatre National Ensemble is a company of young people age 16-25 selected each year for their exceptional potential as performers and theatre makers.

Throughout the year they will work with a dedicated Theatre Director and specialist practitioners in a variety of arts related disciplines to really extend, enhance and refine their own artistic practice as performers and theatre makers. The seven month rehearsal process will culminate in a brand new piece of radical political theatre which will tour across Scotland in August 2019.

In only two years, the Ensemble has already established a reputation for producing exciting work.

Creative producer Mahri Reilly explained: ‘There is no audition or participation fee and we plan to host the monthly rehearsal weekends in venues across Scotland. We are sourcing additional funding to help provide bursaries for extra costs incurred such as travel and accommodation.

‘Any young person who identifies as experiencing barriers to participation, whatever they may be, should get in touch and we will do our very best to adjust our framework to support you.

‘This is a call out across the nation of Scotland and to the world; to represent yourself, to make your voice heard, to share your own authentic story of space, place and future ambition.
