New homes in safe hands with award-winning manager

A Scottish housing development has scooped a UK Health and Safety award for Best Site.

Mactaggart & Mickel Homes site manager Garry Henderson has received a national award at the prestigious NHBC Health and Safety Awards in Birmingham.

Garry took home the award for Best Site in the multi-storey category for Milverton Grange, a development of luxury apartments in Giffnock.
NHBC Health and Safety Awards are open to all NHBC registered builders.

Awards are given to site managers who demonstrate an outstanding level of health and safety management – from planning through to execution.

Alongside Garry’s win, Paul Starritt, site manager for Mactaggart & Mickel Contracts’ joint venture with West of Scotland Housing Association at Symington in Ayrshire was highly commended, and Stuart Gillespie at Greenan Views at Doonfoot, Ayr was commended.

Garry said: ‘I’m over-the-moon to win this award. My entire team at Milverton Grange is committed to maintaining the highest possible health and safety standards, ensuring that the quality of our homes is matched by our approach to safety for colleagues, partners and visitors.’
The National Award ceremony, now in its 9th year, took place last Friday.

Karen Bradley, health and safety manager for Mactaggart & Mickel Homes, said: ‘We are thrilled that Garry has been recognised for his continuing dedication towards health and safety. We strive to achieve high health and safety standards across all of our sites and we are proud that Garry’s hard work has been recognised with this national award.

‘We are known for the excellence of our homes and delivering the highest possible standards on our construction sites is key to this achievement.’
