Pick your own pumpkin from a six acre patch

Scotland’s premier pumpkin patch has opened today (Friday 11 October).

More than 7,000 pumpkins have been grown across six acres of land at Arnprior Farm, Stirling, in a variety of sizes, perfect for Halloween, making hearty soups or for autumn decoration.

The patch will be open every day until Sunday, 27 October, from 9.30am-5.30pm.

The patch is free to enter, parking is limited and guests must book their time and slot via www.arnpriorfarm.com – parking is charged at £5 per car and redeemable against a pumpkin purchase. Pumpkins range in price from £5 to £12.

As well as pumpkin picking, there are also lots of activities to keep visitors farmers busy, including:

Pizza truck, burgers, stovies, churros and freshly ground coffee; Face painting and indoor crafting; Gin cocktail truck; Pop up photographer sessions; Chainsaw carving demonstrations; Quad pod rides for kids; Kale maze.

There will be an Additional Support Needs (ASN) Pumpkin Picking session today.

Arnprior Farm will also host a Late-Night, Date-Night for romantics looking for a date with a difference. For one night only Arnprior Farm will turn its pumpkin patch into a late night date destination on Sunday 27 October 2019. It will include a folk band, gin bar, artisan autumnal menu from Skinners of Kippen, plus pumpkin crafts.

Rebecca McEwen, Arnprior Farm’s pumpkin farmer, said: ‘We have over 7,000 pumpkins for you to choose from, just hit the patch and find your perfect pumpkins. You’ll find big orange ones, green warty ones, white ones and stripy ones, whatever takes your fancy.

‘Our 2019 experience is set to be even bigger than last year due to the hot dry summer, which has made way for a pumpkin boom. As well as pick your own pumpkin, the patch also offers visitors the chance to try their hand at farming and dig for their own tatties and pull their own turnips from the ground.

‘There will also be a kids’ playground built from a hay bale mountain, chainsaw carving, an opportunity to feed the sheep, artisan local food trucks, gin bar and crafts too, plus plenty of photo opportunities.’

Established in 1936, Arnprior is an 800-acre working farm in the heart of Scotland’s countryside, in Stirlingshire. Famous for creating unique interactive family farming days, Arnprior has a six-acre pumpkin patch that opens in the autumn months and a lambing experience event every spring.

Arnprior Farm is now in the hands of the next generation of McEwen family, made up of Duncan and Rebecca and their three young children.

Arnprior was primarily a beef, sheep and arable farm until 2015, when the McEwen family decided to sell their cattle, increase sheep numbers and diversified into pumpkin farming.

In October 2019, Arnprior opened an eco-luxe Glamping Pod retreat and swimming pool within the roving hills of its farm in Stirlingshire.

The glamping site houses four-luxury pods that sleep up to five people each with its own private hot tub. Every pod has its own unique personality, with beautiful décor and interiors, offering glamping with a distinct luxury difference.
