Gearing up for the 178th Royal Highland Show

Country came to the capital as a Scottish Blackface Sheep launched the 2018 Royal Highland Show in Edinburgh’s St Andrew Square.

Emily the sheep, one of Scotland’s most iconic native breeds, was in the capital to promote this year’s event, being held at the Royal Highland Showground in Edinburgh next month.

Bred by the renowned sheep farmer, Malcolm Coubrough in Lanarkshire, the sheep won the Breed Title at the 2017 Royal Highland Show.
Malcolm’s daughter Emily, after whom the sheep was named, also attended the photoshoot along with the ewe’s newborn lamb, April.

Emily the ewe will feature the length and breadth of Scotland from April across billboards, buses, social channels and TV. Edinburgh Trams is also featuring Emily on a specially-created tram wrap that will create significant standout across the Capital.

Commenting on the campaign, Royal Highland Show manager David Jackson said: ‘The Royal Highland Show is a once a year opportunity to get face to face with the finest farmyard animals as well as tasting the best food and drink Scotland has to offer. It is more important than ever that people know where their food comes from and the Show helps makes that connection.’

Free to attend for accompanied children 15 and under, the Royal Highland Show takes place from 21-24 June. Supported by Royal Bank of Scotland, this will be the 178th Royal Highland Show.
