World ceilidh music festival reveals 2018 line-up

Knockengorroch World Ceilidh music festival 2018 will have a Rivers of Music theme.

The festival will entertain a wide range of music lovers from May 24 to 27, beside a glittering river in the hills of near New Galloway, in south west Scotland.

Festival goers are encouraged to dress up as river related characters, matching the colourful ceilidh’s ‘the rivers that run through the hills and valleys’ theme, reflected in the site’s eye-catching scenic setting and installations.

This year’s line-up includes Cut Chemist, Transglobal Underground and African female powerhouse Les Amazones d’Afrique are among the international traditional and dance music acts participating in the inimitable event.

The diverse line-up incorporates music to dance to from across the world with more than a healthy splash of traditional Scottish sounds.

The music event also features environmental and heritage workshops, a children’s area and procession, a cinema, a sauna, a healing area, real ales and ciders, global shopping stalls, good food from around the world, several sessions areas, a lovingly restored Celtic Longhouse venue, outdoor swimming, fire shows, lights and art installations, dance, circus, comedy, spoken word, theatre, storytelling, puppets and lots more besides.

The four-day festival has been running since 1998. It remains a meeting point and a party for those who wish to celebrate great music in a fantastic place.

A festival run by a family, for families, in the very broadest sense of the word, it attracts young and old to a beautiful location in the hills, overlooked by the family’s cows.

The experience offers a home away from home and a chance to really get away from it all. The festival attracts all kind of people from students to families and even older people who still love to celebrate.

Advance three or four day tickets and vehicle passes are available now with concessionary prices for students, disabled and OAPs. Under 11 years go free and 11 to 16 year olds are half price. Dogs on leads with responsible dog owners are welcome.
