Gleneagles serves up an afternoon of glamour

Judy Murray, Pat Cash and Greg Rusedski will be the star turns as Gleneagles has announced the return of its Glorious Garden Party to toast the summer season .

After the success of its launch in 2018, this year’s Glorious Garden Party on 1 June will be an exciting and decadent affair held on the Gleneagles lawns with stunning views of the surrounding Ochil Hills. The afternoon will recreate the glorious summers of the 1920s when afternoons at the hotel were spent enjoying champagne, sunshine and sport.

The centrepiece of the day will be a legends tennis match featuring former Wimbledon players, 1987 champion Pat Cash and former British number one Greg Rusedski who will play a championship set on the Gleneagles outdoor courts. In the sporting spirit of days gone by, the tennis stars will play the first few sets with vintage wooden rackets. The match will be umpired by none other than Judy Murray.

To add to the party atmosphere, JP Cooper – one of UK’s fastest-rising talents, will be performing tracks from his latest album, Raised Under Grey Skies. As well as live music, guests will be able to play croquet on the lawn or cool down with a gin and tonic ice pop.

The Garden Party will begin with a free-flowing Champagne reception for guests on the hotel terrace with a live jazz band and canapes showcasing the finest Scottish ingredients.

The famous Gleneagles Afternoon Tea will be served before the match unfolds, with a special selection of products from the Gleneagles & Co artisan food range. Gleneagles executive pastry chef, Phil Skinazi will also be creating a magnificent centrepiece cake with seasonal Scottish berries.

Sharan Pasricha, founder and CEO of Ennismore, said: ‘We’re thrilled to be hosting our Glorious Garden Party once again this year. When Gleneagles first opened in the 1920s, it was the place for people to come and celebrate the great outdoors. We’re keeping this spirit alive by toasting the start of the summer season in the best way we know how.’

Since opening its doors in June 1924, Gleneagles has been one of Scotland’s most prestigious hotels and sporting estates. Set beneath the Ochil Hills, in the heart of Perthshire, it has been the iconic destination for travellers for nearly a century.

Beginning its life in the glamorous age of travel when guests arrived in great style at Gleneagles’ very own train station, the 850-acre estate epitomises the natural beauty for which Scotland is famed.

Tickets are priced at £200 per person and include the champagne reception, afternoon tea, entertainment, and the legends tennis match. To book tickets,  visit www.gleneagles.com.
