Turn back the clock to May 1984 with Scottish Field

Scottish Field was celebrating the rise of young ballet star Christine Camillo in the May 1984 edition.

The French 18-year-old was our cover star and featured in an indepth interview, having swapped her hometown of Toulouse for a performance with Scottish Ballet.

Our other star interview of the month featured Scottish comedy legend Ronnie Corbett, the smaller half of The Two Ronnies. It wasn’t an easy interview for us to arrange, as it took over 12 months to set up, with Ronnie starring in both the titular TV series, plus his sitcom Sorry.

We also had a column from leading sports journalist Ian Archer, who some will remember as the co-host of Scotsport on Sunday afternoons. He previewed the forthcoming Scotland v England fixture at Hampden Park, which would ultimately finish in a 1-1 draw, with Mark McGhee scoring the opener for the Scots, before Tony Woodcock equalised.
