Mountain and sea festival returns for its third outing

The Torridon Mountain and Sea Festival in the Scottish Highlands is returning for its third year next month.

This thriving festival was established by Dan and Rohaise Rose-Bristow, owners of The Torridon Resort in Wester Ross, and will run from 27-29 September.

Taking place amidst a palette of autumn colours sweeping across the hills and heaths, it brings together local produce from land and loch, Scottish ale, live music, and activities in the wilderness in one three-day immersive event.

Visitors can try sea kayaking, munro bagging, mountain biking or landscape photography with experts; sample Scottish ales from the Isle of Skye Brewery, An Teallach Ale Company and Cairngorm; dance to the messed-up music of the Mystic Shoes, listen to the texture-rich rhythms of Ho-Ro, and rock to the fiery and passionate Schiehallion. Recharge throughout with hearty Scottish fare at The Torridon Inn.

In addition, on 27 September, there will be a seven-course tasting menu to savour from The Torridon Hotel’s restaurant 1887. Dishes such as Highland beef tartare with foraged ransom, Torridon-grown kohlrabi, fermented leek and home-bred cured ham or locally-sourced monkfish with year old onion will be paired with Scottish ales, gin, whisky or homemade juices

On 28 September, visitors can try a gin tasting with Persie Distillery, producers of gins well-known for their scents including zesty citrus, aromatic herbs and vanilla almonds. Follow your nose again with The Torridon’s whisky connoisseur Piotr who will be offering the opportunity to sample a range of single malts on 29 September.
