A group of generous souls are making their way from Edinburgh to Monaco in a variety of interesting vehicles.
They are taking part in the Bumble Bee Rally, having met up at the Edinburgh Castle Esplanade on Saturday morning, before heading off to the south of France at 9am.
The Bumble Bee Rally was started in 2016, in memory of the drivers’ friend Richard Barlas, who died suddenly in 2015.
The rally aims to raise funds for a charity of Richard’s widow Claire’s choosing, this year she has asked for donations to go to the Sepsis UK charity.
Sepsis is a potentially life-threatening condition triggered by infection, and is hard to spot but still kills at least 44,000 people each year in the UK.
One of those taking part is Ron Law, with this year’s group comprising 10 cars and one motorbike.
Speaking on Tuesday evening, Ron said: ‘We started from Edinburgh Castle Esplanade on Saturday morning, drove to Newcastle to catch the overnight ferry to Amsterdam then to the Nürburgring, where some of us including myself drove a few laps of the ring.
‘We have just arrived in Stuttgart to visit the Mercedes museum and then travel to Chur in the Swiss alps.
‘The next day we navigate the Julierpass before arriving at Lake Como for the night. We then travel to Beaulieu beside Monaco for a dinner followed by a weekend at the Fairmont Hotel Monaco watching the Grand Prix Historique in Monaco over Friday, Saturday and Sunday.’

The sepsis trust seeks to save lives and improve outcomes for survivors of sepsis by instigating political change, educating healthcare professionals, raising public awareness and providing support for those affected by this devastating condition.
