James Ogilvie is guest speaker at The Walled Garden’s October Supper Club

Explorer James Ogilvie will talk abut his polar adventures at a special supper club at The Walled Garden, Archerfield on Saturday 31 October.
The Walled Garden’s head chef Richard Wire has prepared a lovely supper menu created for an explorer like James, author of ‘Getting High’, using garden vegetables and fantastic produce from local suppliers, John Gilmour, James Dickson & Thistly Cross Cider.
In January 2015, James Ogilvie summited Mt. Vinson, the highest peak in Antarctica and the last in his ‘7 summits’ quest to climb the highest mountains on all seven continents.
‘As I stepped up to the top of Antarctica, the true scale, majesty and magnificence of the white continent were overwhelming,’ says James. ‘On one side the curvature of the earth could be discerned along the distant horizon. On the other side, remote peaks – most never touched by human boots – stretched out below me.’
James Ogilvie’s passion for wild places & ‘getting high’ shines through in this account of his climbs of The Seven summits and other mountains.
To find out more about James’ adventures, go along to the supper club on 31st October, relax and have drinks in the bar with friends, followed by a three-course dinner.
