Stirling offers an attractive option to commuters travelling to Glasgow and Edinburgh

The Stirling and central Scotland property market is holding steady as commuters to Glasgow and Edinburgh continue to be attracted to the lifestyle offering and value for money the area offers.

That’s the view of leading independent property consultancy, Galbraith.

The latest figures compiled by Galbraith indicated another strong quarter (Oct – Dec 2017) in terms of residential activity for the firm’s Stirling office, with twice the number of property sales completed compared to the previous quarter and the number of properties available to sell during the same period increasing three-fold.

The number of viewings conducted by the Stirling residential team throughout the whole of 2017 increased by 57% compared to 2016 figures, with the total number of applicant registrations increasing three-fold over the same period.

Duncan Barrie, partner in charge of agency department in Stirling said: ‘Property within Central Scotland continues to offer great value for money and attracts healthy interest from buyers keen to enjoy a more relaxed way of life whilst still being within an easy commute to the larger cities of Glasgow, Stirling and Edinburgh.

‘Properties with land, even a small portion, will generally attract buyers and often run to closing date, as do small holdings with buildings which present a great opportunity for those keen to set up and run a business from home. We have witnessed an increase in property viewing with many properties now being sold at competitive closing dates and attracting a healthy premium over the asking price.’

Across Scotland as a whole, Galbraith has witnessed a healthy 20% increase in sales for the quarter ending 31 December 2017, compared to the same quarter of 2016.

The firm handled over £54 million worth of property sales over the past quarter alone.
