A fascinating month lies ahead at Sotheby’s

Some fascinating sales and events are coming to an Edinburgh auction house in September.

Sotheby’s, based at Thistle House, 21-23 Thistle Street, Edinburgh, have some fascinating events throughout the month.

Sotheby’s will have a jewellery and watches valuation day,and the Made In Britain sale.

Events are:

· 11 September – Tea and Tiaras at Prestonfield House. This is an invitation only event. Justin Roberts will give a lecture on the amazing Valkyrie Tiara which is about to go on display at the V&A Dundee thanks to a loan and research done by Sotheby’s. Guests at the afternoon tea will also be able to try on jewels from their upcoming Fine Jewels sale in London.

· 12 September – Free valuations from experts Kate Lacey and Justin Roberts of watches and jewellery in the lovely setting of Prestonfield House from 10am to 2pm with complimentary light refreshments.

· 18 September – Made in Britain sale. Showcasing the very best in the Modern British Art Scene across the disciplines of painting, works on paper, prints, photography, contemporary and studio ceramics and design, September’s Made In Britain auction offers the perfect opportunity to acquire works by some of the century’s most celebrated and sought-after artists and makers, with estimates starting from only £400. · 5 October – Celebration Lunch with Historic Houses and Sotheby’s Restoration Award. This year the award will be given to Marchmont House in Berwickshire.
