Good and Proper Deli passes the bacon roll test

Walking through Stockbridge it’s not hard to find a seat in a coffee shop as there are so many of them.

There are the ubiquitous big brands and there are a wide range of independents now with a relatively new kid on the block called The Good & Proper Deli Co run by Sally.

With so much competition in the neighbourhood you are going to have to stand out from the crowd and G&P certainly does.

There’s a lovely feel about the place as soon as one walks through the door, not many seats but with a decent enough space between tables so that you can have a private chat or meeting without being totally overheard.

The coffee is excellent and so is the array of food available which is all made in the little kitchen out the back.

The big question in the morning is, is this the home of one of the best bacon rolls in Edinburgh? Well, the G&P Bacon Roll with Mary’s Home Made Ketchup has to be up there as one of the best. Come lunchtime the array of salads, sausage rolls, quiches and home baking that adorn the side board makes ones tummy groan with anticipation.

‘Lovely people seeing delicious food – simple!’ says the board outside, well they have got that right.
