Single malt has been finished in Château Cissac casks

The Benromach Distillery Company Ltd has unveiled the latest addition to its Wood Finish portfolio.

They have launched the limited-edition Benromach Château Cissac Bordeaux Wood Finish 2010.

The single malt Scotch whisky balances Benromach’s signature Speyside smokiness with rich red wine undertones.
Benromach Château Cissac Bordeaux Wood Finish 2010 is matured in First Fill Bourbon barrels in the distillery’s traditional dunnage warehouses in Forres, Speyside. This expression is then finished for just over two years in Château Cissac wine casks, hand-selected from the illustrious French wine region of Haut-Médoc near Bordeaux.

Dark gold in colour, the influence of the wine casks is immediately apparent on the nose. On tasting, the initial pepper is followed by sweet vanilla, creamy milk chocolates, hints of red wine tannins and peat smoke. Deeper hints of bonre embers are complemented by Brazil nuts and gorgeous cocoa flavours.

Keith Cruickshank, Benromach Distillery manager, said: ‘Our latest Wood Finish is a welcome addition to our “Contrasts” range of single malt Scotch whiskies.

‘All our Wood Finishes, including our Château Cissac Bordeaux Wood Finish 2009 which we launched last year, have been really well received by whisky lovers around the world.

‘I’m confident that Benromach Château Cissac Bordeaux Wood Finish 2010, with its unique and appealing characteristics, will be appreciated by new and existing Benromach enthusiasts. At our distillery in Forres, we’ve always been unafraid to innovate, and we hope those who enjoy our flagship Benromach 10 Years Old will enjoy exploring our different finishes.’

A limited release of 7,789 bottles will be made available for sale through specialist whisky retailers with a recommended retail price of £47.75 in the UK.
