Ardnamurchan Distillery is in the running for our Distillery Visitor Experience of the Year award!
Ardnamurchan Distillery opened in July 2014. Under the ownership of independent bottlers Adelphi Distillery Ltd, the site occupies an elevated position overlooking the stunningly beautiful Loch Sunart, with the Sound of Mull and Tobermory just visible in the distance.
Emphasis has been placed on blending nature and production, with the distillery being the first in Scotland to be 100% fuelled by renewable sources: locally-sourced wood chip is delivered by tractor to supply the biomass boiler, and electricity is supplied via the nearby hydro-electric scheme. Cooling water flows from this same river, and process water rises from springs deep in the heather-clad, peat-rich hillside.
A fully-staffed visitor centre with tours, shop and tasting room is already welcoming guests from the UK and beyond, many of whom have travelled to fill their own cask of the delicious new make spirit, and become part of the Ardnamurchan Distillery’s exciting future.
