Autumn food and drink feast at Dornoch Castle Hotel

Whisky tastings, special dinners and festival fun are on the agenda for Dornoch Castle Hotel this month.

The hotel, home to Thompson Bros Organic Mill to Still Gin, which has kicked off one of its strongest ever programmes of dining and tasting events, as it approaches both the annual Dornoch Whisky Festival, and the festive season.

To celebrate 20 years of ownership by the Thompson family, and enable customers old and new to take advantage of the many events at the Castle, a special room rate of £20.20 has been introduced on selected dates.

Superb dining, along with chances to try some exceptional and rare whiskies from all over the world, is at the heart of Dornoch Castle Hotel’s contribution to the Dornoch Whisky Festival, taking place 25-28 October.

The hotel is a past winner of a number of prestigious whisky bar accolades, such as Whiskybase.com’s Number One International Whisky Hotel, along with Scottish Licence Trade News Whisky Bar of the Year, in 2014 and 2016.

Highlights include a four course Scotch Malt Whisky Society dinner, with Champagne reception, on Friday 25 October, whisky tastings such as Japanese versus Irish, single cask tastings, and Old & Rare, a street marquee dance on Saturday 26 October, and a Gordon & MacPhail Rare Whisky Dinner, also on Saturday 26.

In November another special dinner will take centre stage, showcasing the Scotch Malt Whisky Society. Bookings are being taken now for Hogmanay which promises to be a real calendar highlight with three nights of entertainment, both before and after Hogmanay itself.

Colin Thompson said: ‘These events are booking up fast across the board. We hope that our customers are impressed with this autumn and winter programme, which kicks off celebrations which will continue for us well into next year.’
