Edinburgh has a brand new festive offering this year in the shape of Thor’s Tipi Bar – a Christmas pop-up bar with a difference which is officially now open.
Located on Waverley Mall’s rooftop event space, Thor’s tipi bar – playing on a Viking heritage – will be a novel experience for Christmas shoppers, weary workers, visitors and families alike.
The festive pop up bar on Waverley Mall’s rooftop, situated on Princes Street, is set to become a real destination over the Christmas period, in the heart of the city.
Asset Manager of Waverley Mall, David Waterworth said: “We are extremely pleased to work together with Thor’s tipi bar as a fantastic addition to this year’s festivities. The location is right in the heart of the city centre with such fantastic travel links for visitors and locals of Edinburgh.
‘This brand new pop up from Thor’s tipi bar will continue to provide a very current and relevant offering to our customers throughout the festive period and is perfect for our overall vision we are striving to achieve for our rooftop area here at Waverley Mall.’
Two canvas tipis will form the bar, festooned with lighting and decked out with wooden tables and benches, cosy furs and a real fire pit, around which customers can soak up the Viking hygge.
A unique drinks menu truly offers something for everyone. Hot and cold cocktails with a Christmas twist, beers from around the world and local ales and stouts are just a few of the items on the menu. An extensive wine list, soft drinks and a non-alcoholic selection can also be discovered whilst festive favourites such as mulled wine and hot chocolate will ensure there is something to warm everyone’s cockles. Teas and coffees are also available to revive busy shoppers.

In addition to Edinburgh, Thor’s tipi bars will be popping up in York, Leeds, Sheffield, Lincoln, London and Nottingham over the Christmas season.
Thor’s tipi bar is a plastic-friendly bar and uses poly-carbonate reuseable plastics.
Thor’s tipi bar will be open from 10 until 10pm daily from to 4 January 2019 (closed Christmas Day and at 6pm for Hogmanay).
