A taste of Spain married up with delicious beers

An award-winning Glasgow restaurant is to host a Gastronmic Galician beer pairing night.

The Spanish Butcher, Glasgow’s award-winning restaurant located in Merchant City, is set to host the event next Wednesday, 18 July.

Curated by the Spanish Butcher’s head chef Dion Scott in partnership with Estrella Galicia, the evening, named Little Galicia, will celebrate the flavour profiles of Green Spain, comprising of four courses – inspired by the region in North West Spain – each paired with a beer from the Estrella Galicia range.

Tom Wheatly of Estrella Galicia will be on hand to share insight on the brewery’s hometown of Coruna, as well as the importance the Galician environment, culture and food have on the award-winning beers.

Tom said: ‘The Spanish Butcher was the obvious choice to hold the first ever Little Galicia event in Scotland. The quality of produce and passion for experience make it just as easy to host the event here as it would be any of our partner restaurants in A Coruna or Santiago de Compostela.

‘We cannot wait to let customers experience a true Galician evening.’

James Rusk, co-owner of Spanish Butcher, said: ‘Galicia is famed for producing some of the best food and ingredients in the entire country, including beer. It’s going to be a fantastic night of great food, beer and gastronomic insight.’

On the night, guests will be served up the very best Galician cuisine, using the finest of ingredients, such as Escabeche of Atlantic halibut, Presa Iberica de bellota and Confit Duck Leg.

Located on Miller Street in Glasgow, The Spanish Butcher was recently awarded Most Stylish Restaurant in the 2018 Scottish Style Awards in addition to Restaurant Newcomer of the Year at the CIS Excellence Awards.
