Icelanders and Scots to show their creative work

Scottish and Icelandic crafts people are coming together at a show next month.

ShiftED brings together a group of five Highlands & Islands designer makers with four collaborators from Iceland.

First created for DesignMarch 2018 in Reykjavik, the presentation of collaborative pieces will be on show for the very first time as part of XpoNorth in Inverness, from 27-28 June.

Complimenting the showcase will be a panel discussion featuring a diverse range of craft, fashion and textile makers from Iceland and the Highlands and Islands.

Panel members include Carol Sinclair: Director, Sinclair Wilson Ltd, Ýr Jóhannsdóttir: Creator, Ýrúrarí, Netty Sopata: Owner & Designer, Diggory Brown, Naomi Mcintosh: Interdisciplinary Designer and Helen Voce: Independent Project Manager, Programme and Event Producer.

The panel offers insights into the project plus a fascinating and insightful discussion on the challenges and benefits of international collaboration.

XpoNorth is completely free to attend and accessible to all.

The ShiftED exhibition takes place at Inverness Museum and Art Gallery from 19th May until 21 July.

The annual Inverness-based conference and showcase festival, formerly known as goNORTH, takes place over two exciting and energising days and nights in the Highland capital. A unique event in the creative calendar, XpoNorth is the only festival of its kind in Scotland covering craft, fashion and textiles; writing and publishing; screen and broadcast; digital and technology and music.

The conference element of the festival will return to Eden Court Theatre and Cinema and the live showcase programme will take place across several city centre venues.
