Former Bake Off star to judge cake competition

A former Great British Bake Off contestant will be a judge at the Great British Food Festival at Floors Castle.

Over the weekend of 8-9 September, the Great British Food Festival is coming to Floors Castle, near Kelso in the Borders.

Along with tasty food and drink producers, there will be headline chef demos, foodie talks, terrific live music to enjoy on the lawns and a Cake Off.

The Cake Off is a popular part of the festival, where amateur bakers going head to head to win a prize from Kenwood.

Julia Chernogorova (ex-Great British Bake Off), who will help judge over the weekend, said: ‘I love demoing at the shows and the highlight of the weekend is judging the public cake off.

‘The effort people put into their cakes is simply staggering and I learn from these showstoppers every time. So get baking and bring a cake to enter. I can’t wait to try them and you might even win a prize!’

Dan Maycock, festival director, said: ‘We’re thrilled to have ex-Bake Off stars come along to Floors, they are always very popular. The Cake Off competition is great fun, it’s fantastic to see the public entries and what they can do, and all bakes get free entry to the event with their cake.’

The event has lots of artisan producers who will also be showcasing the best in seasonal, and speciality food and drink.

Pulled pork, prime steak and local sausages are just a few of the flavours you can enjoy. It’s a great foodie family day out, tickets are currently discounted HERE.
