The Big Scottish Book Club has returned to our TV screens, showcasing some of the biggest names and new talent in fiction, non-fiction, and poetry from around the world.
Hosted by writer Damian Barr, the first of eight episodes was broadcast on Sunday, recorded at Motherwell Concert Hall with guests Louise Welsh who discusses The Second Cut, the much anticipated follow up to her bestselling 2002 thriller The Cutting Room; Sarah Perry explores what it means to be an Essex girl and James Robertson takes us to the rugged landscapes of the Scottish Highlands in News of the Dead.
There’s also a spoken word performance from Mara Menzies.
This week’s theme delves into the importance of location and a Cambuslang based book group told what they thought of James Robertson’s News of the Dead.
Damian said: ‘Scottish authors and publishers are on top of the world right now and I’m delighted to be celebrating both favourite voices and new names.’
The Big Scottish Book Club is produced by IWC, a Banijay company, and Damian chats about the new series in this week’s Scottish Field podcast.
