Dougie MacLean to play Scotland’s newest venue

Acclaimed singer-songwriter Dougie MacLean will play two concerts at Cardney Steading in Perthshire this month.

It’s the first concert to take place in the new venue, on 20 and 21 March, which opened at the start of the year.

Set on the hill, it has stunning views over the Perthshire countryside, which has inspired many of MacLean’s songs.  It’s set in 2000 acres and has lochs and woodlands in the grounds.

MacLean who has been writing and performing music all around the world for over 40 years will perform some of his best-loved work including Caledonia, The Gael (from The Last of the Mohicans film), Ready for the Storm, This Love Will Carry and Turning Away, as well as some exciting new songs. Dougie explained: ‘I’m really proud to bring people to my home region – I’ve been doing it for years with our Perthshire Amber Festival, but it’s lovely to welcome people here in springtime. Perthshire has such natural beauty throughout the year, it’s great to be playing here and welcoming music fans from near and far to this brilliant new venue.’

There have been bookings from 10 different countries to come along to the concerts and organisers are expecting them to sell out.

There will be options to take a return shuttle bus to the estate from Dunkeld and pre-concert soup and pies as well as drinks from the bar will be available along with the chance to take a stroll around the wonderful surroundings.

Tickets are available online from Dougie’s website www.dougiemaclean.com/index.php/shop. Shuttle buses and food should be pre-booked. The concert starts 8pm (doors from 7.30pm) at Cardney Steading, Cardney Estate, Butterstone, Perthshire, PH8 0EY.
