A Scottish alternative rock band is playing its part in spreading the awareness of mental health.
Hinks are taking part in the official launch of Fabric on Friday, 1 June, at the Scottish Storytelling Centre in Edinburgh.
Fabric is a short piece of film with the aim to spread awareness about mental health, accompanied by the original song by Hinks, a new single to be digitally released on June 2.
Featuring a support act by the Loud Poets; an award-winning group of spoken word artists, Hinks will be performing a live acoustic set. The event will also feature a live dance and movement performance, accompanied by never-before-seen footage from the film shoot, and talks from the team and representatives of mental health charities including See Me Scotland, who all have incredible stories to tell about the importance of this project.
The film itself exists thanks to the kindness of crowdfunding pledgers, and its aim is to open up the conversation about how mental health problems are communicated in the on- and offline worlds.
Fabric is about the daily struggle that those who suffer from mental health problems face; an attempt to give mental illness a form through the characterisation of fabric, and show how those who suffer from it try to balance with such a burden daily.

Jack Hinks from the band said: ‘This event will reimagine what a traditional single launch can be; we are creating a powerful new platform showcasing storytelling through various art forms in order to highlight an issue that is not only significant in the creative industries, but universally.’
Hinks are based in Edinburgh. Combining the heartfelt songwriting of Jack’s solo work with the grit of a four piece rock band, Hinks ensure the survival of your ear-worm with every song. Using melodic guitar and violin, a behemoth rhythm section and powerhouse vocals, Hinks are an act not to be missed.
Jack is a singer-songwriter based in Edinburgh. Blending genres such as rock, jazz, blues and prog, Jack creates an eclectic style that has been likened to Jeff Buckley and Incubus on many occasions.
Scottish spoken word collective Loud Poets was launched in 2014 with the aim of making poetry something that could be enjoyed by the masses. They are now a community of poets, writers, musicians and artists who create monthly live poetry nights, slams, Fringe festival shows, commissions, workshops and videos.
