Three-part series looks back on Scotland’s IndyRef

A look back on Scotland’s independence referendum is to feature on television tonight.

The Scottish independence referendum of 2014 was a monumental event which has continued to influence political discussion across the country.

BBC Scotland will feature an STV Productions commission, a three part documentary Yes/No – Inside The Indyref, which will air tonight at 10pm.

This series offers a remarkable insight into the opposing campaigns of 2014’s Scottish independence referendum, a monumental event which has continued to influence political discussion across the country.

Created by the film maker Paul Mitchell, who made Inside Obama’s White House and The Death of Yugoslavia, it offers a remarkable insight into the operations of the opposing campaigns during the period.

Major players from both sides including Nicola Sturgeon, George Osborne, Alex Salmond, Gordon Brown and Nick Clegg give the inside track on the highs and lows of their campaigns to persuade a majority of voters to back them on the historic polling day in September 2014.

In candid interviews they lift the lid on where their operations hit the spot or suffered setbacks during the months of impassioned debate and argument.

The first episode – The Fight for a Question – looks at the events which led to the announcement of a referendum, the role of social media, how the teams developed their strategies and the drive to rally big names to their causes.
