Welcome to Cruachancam

Ben Cruachan is the highest point in Argyll and Bute and is part of a ring of mountains known as the Cruachan Horseshoe. The mountain towers 1126m (3694ft), on its main ridge there are 2 peaks ranked as Munros (mountains over 3000ft), Ben Cruachan and Stob Diamh.

Hidden deep inside the mountain on the Loch Awe side is Cruachan Power Station, which is a hydro electric plant built in the 1960's. Buried 1km below the ground at its centre is a massive cavern high enough to house the Tower of London. The power station is open to visitors.
