Ruth Fann

Address: St Andrews Seafood Restaurant, West Sands

Whilst staying in St Andrews for the Dunhills Championships I had the good fortune to secure a table for dinner at the Sea Food restaurant. Since my previous visits dating from the restaurant opening in 2005 the chef has changed but the food and dining experience was as good as ever. Delicious food, exquisitely presented and served by the most professional and courteous staff you could ever wish to meet. A choice of superb fresh Scottish fish dishes and Brittish meat and poultry dishes were on offer followed by delicious mouthwatering desserts.
Having thoroughly enjoyed my meal experience I requested a booking for the following night but was out of luck but later the following day I was fortunate enough to be offered a cancellation. I was not dissappointed,I chose a different selection of dishes which were as excellent as the night before. A superb choice of 1/2
bottles of wine (sufficent for one) made a welcome change from the usual option of one house red/white wine! The restaurant environment is classy but simple with neatly layed and well spaced tables. The first-class chef Douglas Sillar and his team of chefs are 'on view' to the customers. Douglas runs a tight ship and calmly examines every single item before it is served politely requesting slight adjustments to sauces if required without today's customary tirade of offensive language! The restaurant offers a dramatic view of the North Sea with a backdrop of the Old Course Golf Clubhouse and on this occassion the best (warmest) view of the spectacular fireworks display put on for the golf championships during the evening.
Well done, certainly a restaurant to recommend highly to the most astute and worldly of customers.
