Even top dogs can end up abandoned |
In 2001 the Scottish Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals did a survey with 28 local authorities to assess the problem of stray dogs
– giving a resulting total of 10,395 dogs collected and returned to owners or taken into kennels. Of the SSPCA sample –
42% returned to owners
39% re-homed
5% to other organisations
14% humanely destroyed
