The Lost Gallery

Idyllic setting

The Lost Gallery is set deep in the beguiling tranquillity of Glen Nochty, a delightful drive through the woodland that surrounds Strathdon, in Upper Donside.

It is housed in a 19th Century farmhouse that crouches low into the side of Moss Hill, one of the gentler sisters of the nearby Cairngorms.

It is an idyllic setting, which engenders respite from the furore and fumes of modern life! The guiding policy at The Lost Gallery is simply stated. It is to show works by Scottish modern artists who most excite the owners, artist Peter and Jean Goodfellow.

Having seen American vindication of their long held belief that the promotion of all forms of modern art should not be restricted to urban areas, they were determined to back their hunch. Today, clearly identified as one of the most interesting and unusual venues in Scotland, the gallery has an excitingly eclectic selection of paintings, sculpture and photography. An added attraction is provided by the Goodfellows’ association with the Scottish Sculpture Workshop, a tie-up which provides access to large scale, domestic and international sculpture.
