Glenapp Castle was painstakingly restored to its former glory, after years of neglect, finally opening to guests in 2000. The castle became a member of the prestigious Relais & Châteaux Association in 2002 and has Five Red Stars and Three Rosettes from the AA, Five Gold Stars from VisitScotland and a score of 6 in the Good Food Guide. The castle is therefore recognised as one of Scotland's finest country house hotels.

Glenapp - one of Scotland's finest country house hotels.
A spectacular example of the 'Scottish Baronial' style of architecture set in magnificent private gardens and grounds looking out across the Irish Sea to Arran, Ailsa Craig and Mull of Kintyre. The 36 acres of glorious gardens and woodland provide a wonderful back drop for activities such as clay pigeon shooting, falconry, croquet or tennis. The spectacular walled garden and remarkable category ‘B’ listed 150-foot Victorian Greenhouse filled with ornamental plants and flowers are both well worth a visit. Throughout the gardens there are many rare and unusual plants and shrubs including colourful azaleas and huge specimen rhododendrons. Semi-tropical plants such as palm trees flourish in the mild climate of the south west, which is influenced by the Gulf Stream. Located on our doorstep, the unspoiled South Ayrshire and Galloway coastline provides guests with many exciting days of exploration.

Afternoon tea.
There are graceful lounges and elegant dining rooms with seemingly endless oak panelled hallways leading to 17 individually furnished and decorated bedrooms and suites. All of the original character and atmosphere of this spectacular Victorian home has been retained and every room has been individually decorated and furnished with carefully chosen antique furniture and original art. The two ‘Master Rooms’ are palatial in size, with highly ornate cornice- work. There are two suites, which in addition to the bedroom area have an interconnecting sitting room. All of the castle’s rooms are bright and sunny thanks to the tall and elegant Victorian windows and all rooms have luxurious traditionally appointed en suite facilities, wireless broadband internet access (T-Mobile Hotspot) television, DVD player and CD player. Each bedroom and bathroom has a direct dial telephone. Many bedrooms have coal and log effect gas fires, and all rooms have superb views of the gardens or the coastline, or both in many cases.

Enjoy gourmet food, expertly prepared.
Each evening at dinner, we serve a six course gourmet menu, expertly prepared by Head Chef Adam Stokes and his team. Our menus change daily and utilise the best fresh and seasonal local ingredients, including fruit, vegetables and herbs from the castle gardens. While all of our resident guests have an automatic dinner reservation, the dining rooms at Glenapp are also open to non-resident guests by prior reservation for lunch and dinner. Afternoon tea in the castle Drawing Room is available to non-resident guests, again by prior reservation.
Glenapp is open from March to December each year and throughout this time is available for exclusive use, when it becomes a wildly romantic setting for weddings and family parties and a relaxing retreat for sporting breaks and a bespoke venue for corporate entertaining.
