A varied and engaging programme of completely free events designed to celebrate the landscape, heritage and people of the Ochils and Hillfoots area of Clackmannanshire and Stirling, The Ochils Festival runs throughout June and has something for everyone from walks, talks and workshops such as Willow Weaving; Natural Dyeing and Food Foraging to guided tours of historic kirkyards – even mini beast hunts.
If the hills are your thing there is an Introduction to Hill Walking and Navigation in the Ochils on Sunday 2 June at 10am. There is also a family friendly Ochils Fest Fun Day on 15 June at the Dumyat Centre in Menstrie, where you can enjoy an introductory geo-caching session and discover the area’s brand new ‘Virtual Visitor & Education Centre’. With clickable ‘hotspots’, the easy to navigate Virtual Centre offers a 3D landscape depicting changes over time and contains three interactive trail guides; web based and mobile apps and a series of high tech short films about local places of interest.
The Ochils Festival is provided by the Ochils Landscape Partnership, a body bringing together twenty different partners with the distinct aim of offering local people greater opportunity to interact with their unique landscape.
