A Family Affair
Lindsay Burns & Company are Perth's leading family run auctioneers and valuers. The auction house is located on King Street in Perth in a former church dating back to 1830. This provides a perfect backdrop for the divers

This was evident in the recent Antiques and Fine Art auction where highlights from the sale included a good taxidermy study of a stag’s head that appealed to buyers and a rare Betjemann’s Patent Tantalus in working order with original key. Dogs are always a popular subject, and a small gold painted bronze bulldog made in Austria at the turn of the 20th century was keenly contested, with the hammer falling to a successful online bidder. Interest is expected to be strong in the forthcoming Antiques and Fine Art sale on 8th September.

The sale will include Furniture, Clocks, Rugs, Works of Art, Oil Paintings, Watercolours & Etchings, Silver & Jewellery, Asian Art, Ceramics and Glass. The sale has some very interesting lots consigned including a vibrant watercolour by James Watterson Herald titled ‘A Village Roup’, estimate £6,000 – 8,000.

The firm currently holds the record auction price for this artist’s work, with an example titled ‘Buffalo Bill at Arbroath’ selling for £29,000. The auctioneers have also secured for sale a rare 18th century Worcester sparrow-beak jug with enamel decoration of Chinese fi gures circa 1770, estimate £100-200. They are currently inviting entries for their forthcoming Antique & Fine Art Sale.
