Benromach, Boats & Broom...

Benromach warmed up journos on a wet n' windy summer day with an unique tasting of the Single Malt Speyside Whisky onboard Edinburgh Inspiring Capital, the city's debut entry in the Clipper 09-10 Round the World Yacht Race.

Whisky man Dave Broom hosted the convivial and intimate event in the bowels of the yacht, moored off Ocean Terminal, prior to setting sail for the Humber and the start of the epic race on the 13th September. Dave led us through a dazzling array of Benromachs, including the Organic expression – still the only Scotch Whisky to carry the seal of the Soil Association – through the devilishly good Sassacaia wine finish and right up to the sublime 1969 vintage, bottled to celebrate the race and epic in it's own right.

Scottish Field would like to wish skipper Matt Pike and his remarkable team the very best of luck as they fly the flag for Edinburgh and Scotland around the world and our commiserations; they can't enjoy a Benromach till crossing the finish line – it's a 'dry boat'!
